Best Ecommerce UI/UX Agencies (2026)

The short answer

Isadora Agency, EY Studio+ and WONGDOODY lead this list. Isadora designs ecommerce journeys and subscription tools with UX research and CRO, and reports a 60% increase in one consumer brand's subscription retention rate after seven months. EY Studio+ tested five store concepts before launching a cheese delivery business for a Swiss dairy cooperative. WONGDOODY is digital lead agency for a German drugstore chain's app and omnichannel shopping.

Ecommerce UX spans the whole path from first visit to repeat order. Product discovery, the cart and checkout, the account area and the tools customers use to reorder or change a subscription all shape whether a shopper comes back. All eight agencies below publish named work for a retailer or direct-to-consumer brand on their own websites, from a single store launch to multi-brand commerce platforms.

Four things set the order: research done with real shoppers, depth across the purchase path and the post-purchase account, evidence of improvement after launch, and how a retailer or consumer brand would actually engage each team.

Methodology

Each agency's own website was our source, including its case studies, client lists and service pages. Getting onto the list took a named retail or direct-to-consumer client on the firm's own site. We then compared four things. First, research with shoppers, meaning interviews, store visits or usability tests that changed a design. Second, coverage of the whole purchase path, from navigation and product pages to checkout, accounts and subscriptions. Third, signs of work after launch, such as testing programs, CMS tools a merchandising team can run, or design systems. Fourth, fit, which covers team structure and the engagement model a brand would sign up to. We read published results against the case study they came from, and we left blank any fact an agency doesn't publish, such as headcount or a minimum budget.

Ecommerce UX research, UI/UX design and conversion rate optimization

Isadora Agency designs the parts of an online store where shoppers decide, from landing pages and product builders to the account tools they return to. For The Honest Company, it redesigned the diaper subscription landing page, the bundle builder and the subscription management tool. Research showed how much the brand's prints mattered to parents, so the builder puts the prints up front, and parents can now split sizes and mix diapers, overnights and training pants in one bundle. User testing validated the new flow. The case study reports a nearly 25% increase in Get Started clicks, a 75% drop in the landing page's exit and bounce rate and a 60% rise in subscription retention after seven months. For Razor USA, Isadora redesigned the path to purchase around retail partner listings, then built a modular, CMS-driven commerce platform; that case reports a 72% increase in traffic to retail partners and 31% more transactions. Its research toolkit includes analytics audits, journey mapping, card sorting and moderated usability tests.

Venture building and customer experience design within EY

EY Studio+ dates from June 2025 and combines roughly 7,000 professionals in design, marketing, sales, service and technology across 50 countries. Studio+ built cheezy, a premium cheese delivery business, for mooh cooperative, a group of Swiss dairy farmers looking for a direct-to-consumer market. The EY etventure team began with consumer research on the street and a set of personas, narrowed more than 100 ideas to 15 concepts, and tested five of them with prototype landing pages that tracked each step visitors took, as though the products were already on sale. The winning concept launched on Shopify with a website, an app, a brand and its own packaging. Its Stockholm team also created the visual identity, packaging, copywriting and launch campaign for Mojo Fertility, a start-up.

Omnichannel retail experience design

WONGDOODY is a creative technology agency with 2,000 designers and innovators across 24 design studios. At a German drugstore chain, it acts as digital lead agency. The work there spans experience design for ecommerce shopping and for services that connect online and in-store, new features inside the chain's app, and CRM work that uses existing customer data to anticipate what shoppers need. For Kärcher, the cleaning equipment maker, it built a hybrid imagery workflow in which a digital twin of a hero product keeps generative AI images accurate, so the brand can supply more visuals to more markets and channels. Its Product Experience practice lists commerce, customer experience and employee experience services.

Brand experiences and AI-driven commerce concepts within WPP

AKQA was founded in 1994 and has been majority owned by WPP since 2012. It organizes its offer around brand, intelligence, surfaces and experiences, and its About page names web, retail and AI interfaces among the places it designs for. The Generative Store, built on Gemini, is its main commerce project: an AI shopping experience that adapts layout, copy and imagery in real time to each visitor's intent, drawing on a brand's own design system, and aimed at luxury retail. For a sneaker retailer's business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, AKQA evolved the regional identity and built a flexible design system for the retailer's sneaker platform, which now extends to its membership program. Its work list also names fashion clients Lemaire and ALAÏA, and it worked on the product and UI for Neurable's Enten headphones.

Brand-led ecommerce UI and design systems for retailers

Søstrene Grene, a Danish-founded retailer with more than 140 stores in Europe and Asia, asked Hello Monday to design the company's first ecommerce website. The team skipped a one-to-one copy of the maze-like stores and translated the retailer's core values into a flexible design and color system, so editorial content stays relevant while product collections change. The Danish site went live in March 2020. For EPOS, a new audio brand, the studio worked on the identity before the company had a name, then built a design system linking the brand to an online store for high-end audio products. Bearaby, a weighted-bedding company, is another branding client.

Covers

Commerce platforms and engineering delivered through industry studios

Globant, founded in Buenos Aires in 2003, went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2014. It sells through studios, including a Retail, CPG and Automotive AI Studio and a Digital Commerce studio in its GUT network. Accent Group, the footwear company in its published ecommerce case, started as a wholesale distributor in 1988 and wanted every pair of shoes available online and new brands launched faster. Globant built a headless Magento platform with a progressive web app front end and a shared reference architecture for brand roll-outs, then connected the ERP, AI-driven search and merchandising, email and SMS marketing and the integration layer. Loyalty and rewards, delivery options and a self-service account section were added along the buyer journey. Customer research, journey mapping and UX and UI design are listed among the project's services.

Ideal client

Multi-brand retailers replatforming to headless commerce with integrated ERP, search, loyalty and delivery options

Notable clients

Accent Group, Ualá, Viability

Software engineering and service design for retailers and marketplaces

Founded in 1993, Thoughtworks now employs more than 10,000 people across 18 countries and has been privately held by Apax Partners since late 2024. Its retail and ecommerce practice builds software for retailers that need to scale. Natural Markets Food Group runs organic grocery and food service banners in the U.S. and Canada; Thoughtworks ran consumer field research and an iterative service design process with it, then built the software for a new Toronto location from the ground up, including online ordering, a mobile app, express pick-up, ordering kiosks and one point-of-sale system shared by the grocery and the restaurant. For REA Group, which runs property marketplaces, it began with a large re-platforming of the Australian site and went on to build tools that carry a listing from the agent's upload to search on the website and apps. Thoughtworks describes a commitment to design-led thinking alongside engineering excellence.

Covers

Software engineering, cloud migration, product delivery, data engineering, design-led product development

Ideal client

Retailers and online marketplaces that need ordering, point-of-sale and platform software engineered behind their storefronts

Notable clients

Digital product design and development, owned by Accenture

Accenture has owned Work & Co, a digital product agency started in 2013, since January 2024; its company page counts 467 people. Its retail work covers ecommerce strategy, design and development for fashion and consumer brands. For JW Anderson it designed an ecommerce approach that encourages visitors to wander the site, built around a sharper statement of the designer's identity. For Supergoop! it brought ecommerce, social and mobile into one digital brand experience that connects campaigns and product launches, and it worked on the launch that brought Phoebe Philo's namesake label and limited collections to fans worldwide. Hippo, a home insurance startup, is another client where it covered website design and prototyping along with a digital rebrand.

Covers

Digital product design, ecommerce design and development, design systems, front-end development, product strategy

Ideal client

Fashion and premium consumer brands launching or redesigning an ecommerce site with a distinct brand identity

Notable clients

JW Anderson, Supergoop!, Phoebe Philo

Not the right fit when: You need a quick template-based store; its retail cases center on custom, brand-led ecommerce design.

The sale continues after checkout

Repeat purchases depend on pages most portfolios skip: order history, reorder buttons, subscription settings and the emails that follow an order. A store that converts first-time buyers but makes a subscription hard to change loses many of them later. Strong ecommerce case studies show the logged-in account as well as the product page, and explain how a customer pauses, edits or cancels. When every example stops at the order confirmation screen, the agency probably hasn't been asked to design for retention.

Testing belongs on the real path to purchase

Ecommerce research works best when it follows a shopper through an actual task: finding a product, comparing two options, adding to cart and paying. Analytics show where people drop out, and session recordings and moderated tests show why. A confusing size selector or a surprise shipping cost is cheapest to fix in a prototype, before developers build it into checkout. After launch, continued testing of product pages and cart steps keeps a store improving between redesigns.

What an ecommerce UX engagement includes and costs

Most ecommerce UX projects open with an analytics review and research with shoppers, then move to navigation and information architecture, product and category pages, cart and checkout, and the customer account. Larger scopes add a subscription or bundle builder, a design system the merchandising team can reuse, and integration with inventory or ERP systems. Of the eight agencies, only Isadora Agency publishes a budget range: its published bands for website and product design begin at $95K to $165K and climb past $401K. The rest price each project. Quotes compare most easily when research, usability testing and post-launch optimization each appear as their own line.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an ecommerce UX redesign cost?

Ecommerce UX redesigns for established brands often start around $95,000 to $165,000 and can pass $400,000 across several markets. Most agencies quote per project. Reworking one subscription flow costs far less than redesigning navigation, product pages, checkout and accounts, and integration with inventory, ERP or loyalty systems adds engineering time on top of the design work.

How long does an ecommerce UX project take?

It depends on how much of the store is in scope and whether the same agency builds it. A schedule that dates research, design, testing rounds and developer handoff separately is the easiest to compare between agencies. At the fast end for a brand-new business, EY Studio+ took mooh cooperative from on-street consumer research to a launched direct-to-consumer cheese business, cheezy, in about six months, including brand, website, app and packaging.

Which ecommerce results should a UX case study report?

Numbers tied to a named client and a specific change: clicks on a main call to action, exits from a landing page, checkout completion, order value or subscription retention, along with the period measured. The Honest Company case from Isadora Agency, for example, reports a 60% rise in subscription retention after seven months. Screenshots alone don't show a buyer what actually changed.

How do you measure user experience on an ecommerce site?

With a mix of behavior data and direct observation. Analytics track drop-off between product page, cart and checkout, and how often shoppers return to the account area. Moderated usability tests explain why a step confuses people, and A/B tests confirm whether a fix holds up with real traffic. Measuring the same tasks before and after a redesign gives the clearest read on its effect.

Should ecommerce UX and the platform build sit with the same agency?

The answer turns on how much engineering the store needs. Globant and Thoughtworks lead with platform engineering, cloud and integration, while Hello Monday's retail case lists concept and UI as its deliverables. One agency for design and build avoids a gap between design files and the live store. When the two are split, a shared component library and agreed acceptance criteria keep the shipped checkout close to the version that was tested.

Which UX agencies have designed AI shopping experiences?

AKQA built the Generative Store on Gemini, an AI shopping experience that changes layout, copy and imagery in real time based on a visitor's intent. WONGDOODY's workflow for Kärcher mixes digital twins, CGI and generative AI to make product imagery for its sales channels. For any AI feature in a store, the questions worth putting to the agency are how the system handles a wrong recommendation and how shoppers can still browse the full range.
